    On Monday, the Supreme Water Committee recommended that the Iraqi Council of Ministers approve procedures to solve water and flood problems in the Kurdistan Region.[/size]
    [size=45]A statement from the office of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani stated, “The latter chaired the fourth meeting of the Supreme Water Committee, and during the meeting, the conditions of water resources were discussed, the water situation was reviewed, and the implementation of the agricultural plan was reviewed, in accordance with the water quotas approved for the governorates.”[/size]
    [size=45]The meeting witnessed a follow-up on the removal of encroachments on the Tigris River in Baghdad Governorate, and the Prime Minister directed that a financial transfer be made to the Ministry of Water Resources for the purpose of carrying out stone cladding of the banks of the river parallel to Sinbad Road in Baghdad.[/size]
    [size=45]The meeting approved the creation of an environment and water program within the programs of the Supreme Water Committee, and the establishment of a fund to support research and initiatives to develop internal water resources, as well as approving the recommendations of the Ministry of Water Resources regarding confronting water scarcity and its impact on the water quality of the Tigris, Euphrates, and Shatt al-Arab rivers.[/size]
    [size=45]The meeting discussed a number of files and topics on the agenda, the most important of which was the Ministry of Foreign Affairs requesting the Turkish side to increase releases from the Euphrates River at the Turkish-Syrian border, as well as to increase releases into the Tigris River from the Ilisu Dam.[/size]
    [size=45]It was also emphasized that the Municipality of Baghdad and the water departments in all governorates were obligated to collect water fees according to the approved pricing, and to initiate the establishment of water desalination projects within the currently operating filtration projects. To improve the quality of drinking water.[/size]
    [size=45]The committee recommended to the Council of Ministers to approve procedures to solve water and flood problems in the Kurdistan Region.[/size]
