    Alsumaria News - Economy

The Iranian Trade Development Organization described the Kurdish boycott campaign of Iranian goods as “a psychological condition only,” stressing that trade between Iran and Erbil was not affected after calls for a boycott following the bombing that struck Erbil on January 15.

Mehr News Agency quoted the deputy director of the organization, Muhammad Sadiq Qanadzadeh, regarding the ban imposed on Iranian goods by Erbil, Iraq, as saying that this statement did not have a special impact on the volume of trade between Iran and Erbil, Iraq, and the private sector in the two countries has a long-term relationship. He does not pay much attention to this issue.

He said: “According to our field investigations, nothing special has happened so far, and trade between Iran and Erbil, Iraq, continues.”

Qanadzadeh added: In general, there was no special ban or change in trade between the two countries. Only the last few days were a psychological process and did not have a significant impact, and now trade is conducted as before.

Qanazadeh appreciated the statement of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce in this regard, pointed to the efforts of the two countries to remove obstacles to the development of trade, and announced the imminent formation of the joint trade committee between the two countries in this field.

Last week, the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry called for a boycott of Iranian goods, and the suspension of all economic and trade relations with Tehran, in response to the Iranian bombing that targeted the home of a businessman in Erbil more than a week ago.
