The Khor Abdullah case has returned to the forefront, once again, and the dust has been dusted off of it. The issues that Iraq went through throughout the previous period made it forget, in one way or another, the decision of the Federal Court, and the issues distracted it from a sovereign file no less important than others.
Kuwait, which had made the world aware of the Khor Abdullah case throughout the previous period, once again raised the issue in Saudi Arabia, demanding that Iraq adhere to the previous agreement, which some Iraqi representatives described as “notorious.”
Following the meeting between the Emir of the State of Kuwait and the King of Saudi Arabia, the two parties issued a statement, carrying many points and demands for this or that country, including Iraq, at a time when they forgot that every country cares about its interests and works according to what it deems good for its people.
The two sides objected to the decision of the Federal Supreme Court in Iraq to invalidate the agreement, while Iraq demanded adherence to the Khor Abdullah Agreement.

“Iraqi response”
Many representatives, during the previous period, worked to nullify some agreements, which had passed for a period of time, and their negative repercussions are still continuing until now, which required action by the Federal Court, and preventing the continuation of errors, and this is what Kuwait and others did not like.
Member of the House of Representatives, Saud Al-Saadi, attacked the joint position of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait regarding the Khor Abdullah Agreement, and while he described the canceled agreement as “notorious,” he indicated that the agreement aimed to “suffocate Iraq with water.”
Al-Saadi said, in an interview, “Today a joint Saudi-Kuwaiti statement was issued, demanding that Iraq adhere to the infamous and disastrous Khor Abdullah agreement, while confiscating Iraqi rights to its waters.”
He adds, “The purpose and ultimate goal of this agreement is to strangle Iraq with water, and turn it into a semi-closed land state that does not enjoy any sea view, including confiscating gas fields and oil platforms, and even crowding out the country’s oil ports, such as the port of Basra and Khor.” Al-Amaya, in addition to Al-Durra field, and others.”
The member of the House of Representatives explains that “the repercussions of this agreement will be disastrous for Iraq’s sovereign rights and the future of the Iraqi economy,” stressing that “Khor Abdullah is the country’s only water outlet, through which all ships entering and leaving the country pass.”
Al-Saadi calls on Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to “respect the sovereignty of Iraq and the decision of the Federal Court, after the appeal that we submitted and succeeded in winning, and thus we obtained a decision canceling the (notorious) agreement.”
He asserts, “The decision of the Federal Court is now binding on all authorities, inside and outside Iraq. Because this agreement contradicts some United Nations charters, which affirm the invalidity of any bilateral agreement between any two countries, if it opposes the internal constitution of any country.”
He points out, “The Khor Abdullah Agreement violated Article 61 Fourth of the Iraqi Constitution, and did not obtain a majority of three members of the House of Representatives, so it is invalid, and this is the basis on which the Federal Court relied.”
“Claims to move ships”
In turn, the State of Law coalition called on the Iraqi government to respond decisively regarding the Khor Abdullah agreement, while considering the objection of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia a “violation” of the country’s sovereignty.
The leader of the coalition, Saad Abdul Jabbar, stated in an interview, “The objection of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to the decision of the Federal Supreme Court, regarding the Khor Abdullah agreement, is a clear violation of Iraqi sovereignty.”
He points out, “The meeting of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia is for their personal interests, and not for the sake of Gaza or a specific matter that serves the region,” noting that “there is a major incursion into the international financial system, which sponsors the Americans and Israel, and which controls large parts of the world, especially the world.” Arabi".
The leader of the Maliki coalition continues, “The current government is required to respond decisively and decide to end the Khor Abdullah agreement, declare Iraqi sovereignty over the waters adjacent to the country, and place warships on the waterways to protect its sovereignty.”
The Khor Abdullah Agreement is one of the important agreements that Kuwait worked to implement and pressured Iraq to implement, but the Federal Court’s decision scattered its papers, which made it go everywhere and broadcast its news. Ended / 25 Rs
