The head of the Integrity Commission, Haider Hanoun, called for concerted efforts to return seized state property.
A statement by the Commission said, “The Chairman of the Federal Integrity Commission discussed with the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for the Preservation of State Property, Amir Al-Mamouri, and a number of members of the Committee ways to inventory all seized property and return them to state ownership.”
The statement added, “Judge Hanoun stressed the importance of concerted efforts of the regulatory agencies and the rest of the state institutions with the Parliamentary Committee to preserve state property, pointing out that the joint effort yields fruitful results. So it must be intensified; Because it is linked to the return of state property, which is “the property of the entire Iraqi people” and is a trust in our possession.
For their part, the Chairman and members of the Parliamentary Committee for the Preservation of State Property stated that the tasks assigned to their committee are large and arduous and require efforts from multiple parties, expressing their hope that the oversight bodies will cooperate with them in completing those tasks whose completion is in the public interest, especially the directorates and offices of the Commission’s investigation in Baghdad. And the governorates, alerting to the necessity of addressing the issue of some influential people’s acquisition of real estate belonging to the state, activating the applicable laws and imposing the penalties resulting from them.
