Businessman Donald Trump continues to command a strong lead over his 2016 rivals for the Republican nomination, but Marco Rubio doubled his support since January, according to a national CNN/ORC poll published Monday.
Of the 427 Republicans surveyed from Feb. 24-27, 49 percent said they supported Trump — up from 41 percent in late January.
Rubio doubled his support from the previous month, earning support from 16 percent of respondents compared to the eight percent he received in the Jan. 21-24 poll.
Ted Cruz, however, lost support. The Texas senator fell to 15 percent after reaching a high of 19 percent in the previous poll.
Ben Carson stood at 10 percent and John Kasich at six percent.
The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus five percentage points.
