On the other hand, MP Saroun Sadeq al-Sulaiti announced on Friday that he has collected 50 signatures to amend the law of scientific societies.
Al-Sulaiti said in a statement received that "one of the methods of regional differentiation adopted by the Saddam Baathist regime is embodied in Article 11 of the Associations Law No. 55 of 1981, which restricted the candidacy of members and the chairmanship of associations only to those who live or work in the same location, Especially specialists such as cardiologists and others, and deprived the sons of the provinces of scientific competencies from membership or the presidency of the administrative body.
He added that he "obtained more than 50 signatures of deputies and different blocks and referred the request to the Legal Committee to formulate the required amendment and in accordance with the Iraqi Constitution, which allowed the principle of equal opportunities among Iraqis without discrimination.
