, political sources familiar with the scenes of negotiations to choose the new prime minister, said on Wednesday, the list of candidates for prime minister shrunk to four names, pointing out that President Barham Saleh gave the political forces two days.
The sources said, "The list of candidates to succeed Abdul-Mahdi has now shrunk to four names: former minister Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi, former judge Rahim al-Aqili, director of Iraqi intelligence Mustafa al-Kazemi, and economic adviser to President Ali Shukri."
The sources added, "The third candidate, Judge Rahim Al-Okaili, who previously presided over the authority responsible for following up financial corruption in government and political institutions, was removed from office after he approached sensitive files."
And she continued: "As for the fourth candidate, it is Mustafa Al-Kazemi, who is surrounded by mystery, given the secret nature of his work, as he is currently the head of the intelligence service."
The sources pointed out that "these names are strongly candidates to obtain the mandate of the President of the Republic to form a government, but only two of them have the support of the" Al-Fateh "coalition, which is Shukri and Allawi, while the other two candidates, Al-Aqili and Al-Kazemi, enjoy the support of the leader of the Alliance of Muqtada al-Sadr."
