Jordanian Prime Minister Bashir Al-Khasawneh said, on Thursday, that extending a pipeline to export oil from Basra Governorate to the port of Aqaba serves his country, Iraq and Egypt.
Al-Khasawneh made a statement while hosting a panel discussion within the activities of the World Economic Forum in Davos under the title “The Future of the Middle East.”
During the dialogue session, Al-Khasawneh spoke about the tripartite agreement concluded between his country, Iraq and Egypt, saying: This is the idea of the Jordanian monarch with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Siyasi and former Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi in order to benefit from this mechanism within the contexts of common interests, and to enhance cooperation and integration. between these countries, adding that "we have tried to institutionalize these agreements more, and there will be summits to be held for deliberation within the three capitals, Amman, Baghdad, and Cairo."
He added that there are two strategic projects within the mechanism of the concluded agreement, one of which is the establishment of an industrial zone on the border between Jordan and Iraq, and the other is the extension of a pipeline from Basra to the port of Aqaba, indicating that the extension of this pipeline shows Iraq's ability to export its oil and also benefits Jordan in increasing oil imports, and complements efforts which the Egyptians are making with the Turks and Greeks in exporting oil from the Mediterranean.
