Al-Araji anticipates the visit of the Kurdish delegation and meets Barzani in Erbil

The National Security Advisor, Qasim Al-Araji, anticipated the Kurdish delegation’s discussions scheduled to be held next week in Baghdad, with a visit he made, yesterday, Wednesday, to Erbil, during which he met with the head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Masoud Barzani, in the presence of the Kurdistan Region’s Interior Minister, Reber Ahmed.
The National Security Advisory explained, in a statement, that the meeting “witnessed an exchange of views on all issues at the national level, in addition to discussing the continuation of cooperation between the center and the region in the border issue with neighboring Iran,
and issues of common interest.”
Al-Araji pointed out that “it is in Iraq’s interest for the region to be strong,” stressing “the importance of uniting everyone’s efforts to implement the provisions of the ministerial program of the Sudanese government, and to meet the requirements of all Iraqis.”
A Kurdish delegation from the Kurdistan region is scheduled to go to Baghdad next week to discuss with government agencies in Baghdad the files of the 2024 budget and the region’s share of it, as well as the delayed salaries of Kurdistan employees.
The Kurdish delegation, according to Sharif Suleiman, a member of the House of Representatives for the Kurdish component, will demand during the Baghdad talks that the provisions of the federal budget approved last year be changed and the region’s salaries be separated from public expenditures.
In an interview with Al-Sabah, Suleiman explained that public or actual expenses are not fixed and cannot be relied upon to secure the salaries of the region’s employees, noting that these demands are among
our priorities in the next stage.
Suleiman pointed out that most of the participants in the political process were convinced of our demands, stressing the need for the House of Representatives to bear its responsibility and change the
budget items related to the region’s share.
A few days ago, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, while receiving representatives of teachers in the Kurdistan region, said: The government is continuing efforts to amend the budget law. In order to separate the salaries file from any complications surrounding the financial files between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq.
