Qatari Foreign Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said Sunday his country welcomed the opening of the border with Saudi Arabia to allow Qatari pilgrims to travel to Mecca even if the move was politically motivated.
"Although it was politically motivated to prevent the people of Qatar from doing Hajj and politically to allow them, we welcome this step, which is a step forward to get rid of this embargo imposed on my country," al-Thani told a news conference in Sweden.
