Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs is working to conclude several agreements with international organizations to establish small income-generating projects, especially for widows, divorcees and the loss of the breadwinner.
The ministry spokesman Ammar Menem said in a statement to Al-Sabah: "The ministry represented by the Department of Social Protection for Women has prepared an extended plan to conclude agreements with international organizations to support women and empower them economically, by providing a financial grant to widows and divorced women and the losses of the dependents recorded in the ministry's database And non-beneficiaries of social protection benefits to help them support their families.
He added that these funds will be given to women randomly selected by these organizations, revealing the ministry's recent agreement with the International Committee of the Red Cross on the establishment of small income-generating projects, adding that the Department of Social Protection for Women seeks to provide the best services to beneficiaries through the implementation of educational and psychological programs.
He added that cooperation with the organizations includes providing cash money to women after determining the type of project they want to do, revealing at the same time the formation of a joint committee to follow up those projects within six months.
He pointed out that the criteria set for selecting the beneficiary is to be the sole beneficiary beneficiary of her family. There are no adult men in the family, and she has no other work, indicating that one of the criteria is the necessity of providing the required skills according to the project, All supporting documents as well as documents that support her as a widow or divorced woman.
For her part, the director of the social protection department for women in the ministry explained Hussein's perfume, in an exclusive statement to the «morning», that the Department is facing great difficulty in the training of widows and divorced women because of social pressures imposed by the community on those segments, The amount of the subsidy is very small.
She added that the training courses that are held for them on a regular basis, ensure that they provide skills that effectively contribute to improving their daily income, adding to sewing, first aid or coiffure, and beautification. The department grants them 5,000 dinars for each day as transfer fees, The social situation in the country deprives a large number of divorced women and widows of the benefit of such opportunities that can significantly improve their living conditions and provide them with skills to live.
