The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs is working to conclude several agreements with international organizations to enable widows, divorced women and the loss of the breadwinner through the establishment of small income-generating projects, with financial grants.
The ministry spokesman Ammar Menem said in a statement to Al-Sabah: The ministry represented by the Department of Social Protection for Women has prepared an extended plan to conclude agreements with international organizations to support women economically and empower them by providing a financial grant for widows and divorced women and the loss of the dependents recorded in the ministry's database and Beneficiaries of social protection benefits to help them support their families.
The ministry recently agreed with the International Committee of the Red Cross on the establishment of small income-generating projects, pointing out that the Department of Social Protection for Women seeks to provide the best services to beneficiaries through the implementation of educational and psychological programs .
He added that cooperation with organizations includes providing cash money to women after determining the type of project they want to do, revealing at the same time, the formation of a joint committee to follow up those projects within six months.
The ministry's spokesman said that the criteria set for choosing the beneficiary are to be the sole breadwinner for the family. There are no adult men in the family, and no other work. The criteria also include the necessity of providing the required skill according to the project, The beneficiary shall provide all the supporting documents as well as documents that support her as a widow or divorcee.
For her part, the director of the social protection department for women in the ministry explained Hussein's perfume, in a statement to Al-Sabah, that the department faces difficulties in the training of widows and divorced women because of the social pressures imposed by society on these segments.
She added that the training courses include skills that contribute to improving their daily income, such as sewing or first aid or a hairdresser and beautification, as the department gives them the amount of 5,000 dinars for each day as a transfer fee, noting that the social situation in the country, deprives a large number of divorced women Widows can benefit from such opportunities as they can improve their living situation and earn them skills.
