[rtl]On Saturday evening, thousands of Israelis demonstrated in the city of Petah Tikva, east of Tel Aviv, in protest against government corruption and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is under criminal investigation into allegations of exploitation of his office.[/rtl]
[rtl]The number of demonstrators is estimated at about 20,000 people, who took part in the demonstration, the largest in a series of weekly protests against corruption, against the background of the issues raised against Netanyahu.[/rtl]
[rtl]Netanyahu, who served as prime minister for four periods, is suspected of involvement in two cases. The first is to receive gifts from wealthy businessmen, and the second involves negotiating a deal with a newspaper publisher for better coverage in exchange for restrictions on a rival daily newspaper.[/rtl]
[rtl]Saturday's protest sparked a bill expected to be passed by the Knesset this week that would prevent the police from publishing its findings during two investigations with Netanyahu.[/rtl]
