The Russian Ministry of Defense conducted an examination of the sudden combat readiness of troops stationed in the central and eastern military zones of the country.
"Since the 20th of March and over the course of four days, the readiness of combat forces of the central and eastern military zones has been examined," TASS news agency quoted a Russian defense source as saying.
He added: "The headquarters of the military units covered by the examination to improve the planning of combat operations and management of troop concentrations in circumstances that move the headquarters of the administration in an unknown area and other tasks."
The central military zone of Russia includes the armed forces deployed in the Siberian, Ural and Volga circles within the boundaries of 29 Russian entities and the headquarters of the region in the city of Yekaterinburg.
The eastern military zone includes units stationed in the area beyond Lake Baikal and the Russian Far East, based in the city of Khabarovsk.
