[ltr]The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Sunday that it received the credentials of Pakistan's new ambassador to Baghdad.[/ltr]
[ltr]"Jaafari received today, a copy of the credentials of the new ambassador of Pakistan to Baghdad, Sajid Bilal," the press office of the Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari said in a statement. "They discussed bilateral relations between Baghdad and Islamabad, Strengthening them in the interests of the two friendly peoples. "[/ltr]
[ltr]Jaafari said, according to the statement, "the readiness of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry to provide all the support; to make the work of the diplomatic mission in Iraq successful."[/ltr]
[ltr]He called on the Foreign Minister to "intensify efforts to activate common interests, confront common threats and coordinate in all fields, especially security and intelligence cooperation; to curb the spread of terrorism, religious tourism and increase the number of visitors to the holy sites."[/ltr]
[ltr]"The Iraqi-Pakistani relations are good," Jaafari said, expressing Baghdad's desire to raise them to the level of aspiration of the two friendly peoples.[/ltr]
[ltr]For his part, Pakistan's new ambassador Sajjad Bilal said that "Iraq and Pakistan enjoy a deep friendship and we have deep roots common to our two peoples."[/ltr]
[ltr]Al-Faisal stressed Pakistan "to make efforts to strengthen economic, trade, investment, agricultural and scientific relations."[/ltr]
