Jubouri: Washington will use its tools to choose the next prime minister

Speaker of the House of Representatives Salim al-Jubouri said on Friday that several countries, including the United States, will use their lobbying tools to intervene in the process of selecting the next prime minister.
"There are countries that affect the Iraqi political scene, but the prime minister is choosing the Iraqis, but to be realistic, certain countries will have pressure on who is chosen as prime minister, including Arab and regional states," he said. Not through direct and obvious influence, but through the use of lobbying tools in order to reach the prime minister's choice. "
He added that "the upcoming legislative elections will be" a milestone for a new stage for the future of Iraq, "and expressed concern about the electronic counting and sorting by UNHCR after the closure of the ballot boxes on the  12th of May.
He explained that "the upcoming elections are different from any previous elections, in the sense that it will be the formulation of the Iraqi situation and re-composition, especially in light of the competition between the political blocs that did not enter the elections within  large blocs competing with each other, which means that we will have medium blocks, Will be obliged to conduct a kind of interaction with other blocs in order to form the largest bloc to choose the prime minister. "
Al-Jubouri pointed out that "the important is the presence of a good proportion of academic figures and new faces can enter the political center through the House of Representatives," expressing his "belief that Iraq, which left the suffering of a previous stage and next to a new stage, will be the popular mood during this stage pressure "The candidates and those elected should think about building a secure and stable Iraq for a future stage, and therefore the outcome of the elections will be unique and very different, because the elections this time do not contain polarizations as they did in the previous stage (previous elections)."
"The Iraqis have a desire to participate in the elections, despite the state of despair and frustration," he said. "People are increasingly popular during the coming period, especially in the cities of terrorism."
He added: "These may be more motivated to participate because of the suffering they have experienced during the past period, and therefore we encourage them to this trend."
On the fears of fraud in the elections, al-Jubouri does not deny that "there is concern related to the process of conducting elections, especially counting and electronic sorting, so there are calls for a manual counting and sorting," adding: "We will monitor and follow the procedures in this regard, Real procedures to reach an electoral process by competing with a project. "
