     The mayor of Chamchamal District of Sulaymaniyah Governorate, Rumak Ramadan, confirmed today, Saturday (April 27, 2024), that a delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul Ghani visited the Kormor field in Qadir Karam district in order to assist in the process of resuming production and returning the energy system to its normal state. .
    Ramadan said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “a technical delegation from the federal government visited the Kormor field, its goal was to inspect the field and the damage it sustained as a result of the bombing that occurred on the field with a drone.”
    Ramadan added, "The delegation wants to assist in the process of resuming production and returning the energy system to its normal state," stressing that "there are security delegations that will visit the field for the purpose of investigation, as directed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Prime Minister."
    He pointed out that "the technical teams have continued their work since yesterday for the purpose of returning the field to production and fixing the defect in the electrical energy system," stressing that "the region has lost more than 2,500 megawatts."
    Yesterday, Friday, the Security Media Cell announced directives from the government to form an investigative committee to target “Kormor,” while revealing the toll and nationality of the victims.
    The cell said in a statement, received by “Baghdad Today”, that “based on the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Joint Operations Command formed a technical investigation committee to find out the circumstances of the sabotage attack that was carried out by a drone and targeted the Kormor gas field in the Qadir Karam district of Sulaymaniyah Governorate at 19:00: 15 of today, Friday, and caused the death of two people and the injury of two others, all of whom were of Asian nationality. 
    She added, "While we condemn this sinful attack on Iraq's economic wealth, we affirm that the aggressors will receive their just punishment for these attacks that attempt to harm the national economy and affect the wheel of progress and development that Iraq is witnessing."
