The US administration said on Sunday that it would present a plan for peace in the Middle East next month, adding that President Trump would announce details of the plan after Ramadan.
"The administration is trying to put forward a peace plan in the Middle East next month amid signs that it may further isolate the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza," the Associated Press reported.
The agency quoted five US officials as saying that "President Donald Trump will announce the details of the deal after this month of Ramadan"
"The disclosure of the deal will take place in the middle or late June after the end of Ramadan, but they hinted that this may be delayed in the event of developments in the region," the five officials and a congressional aide said.
"They are responsible for drawing up the peace plan for the Horn of Africa, Jared Kouchner, and US Middle East peace envoy, Jason Greenblatt, to brief selected allies and partners in the region on the elements of the deal," they said.
The Palestinian Authority is not expected to accept further concessions on the "peace plan", especially since President Mahmoud Abbas summoned the head of the Palestinian mission earlier this week to protest the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem.[/ltr]
