    Turkey filed a complaint against the decision to increase US tariffs on Turkish imports of iron and aluminum to the World Trade Organization .

    Turkey has formally filed a suit against the United States at the World Trade Organization (WTO) for imposing additional customs duties on Turkish steel and aluminum imports. Ankara said in its claim that the tariffs approved by Washington violate their WTO trade obligations.
    Ankara has called on Washington to lodge a consultation to resolve the problem of additional tariffs on steel and aluminum products. The Turkish Ministry of Trade said that Ankara would act jointly with countries that filed suit against the United States on the same subject, namely India, China, Switzerland, Norway, Canada, European Union.
    The Turkish Ministry of Trade said that it will continue to protect the rights of Turkish exporters by increasing cooperation with these countries in the next stage. It stressed that it will take all necessary measures at the World Trade Organization to protect the rights of Turkish exporters.
    Settlement of the Dispute In 
    accordance with the rules of operation of the WTO dispute settlement mechanism, the United States has 10 days to respond to Turkey's request for consultations. If the United States does not respond to Turkey's request during that period or the two sides fail to reach agreement on additional customs duties within sixty days, Issue to the FAO Expert Committee.

    The Turkish complaint against America comes at a time of tension in the relations between the two countries culminated in the recent period because of the political and military files many, notably the trial of the Turkish judiciary of the US priest Andrew Branson on charges of involvement in acts of espionage and terrorism in Turkey.
