A recent survey showed high fuel prices in the UAE and Qatar during March 2019, while Oman proved prices for the third month in a row.
In Qatar, premium and normal gasoline prices rose 3.3 percent and 3.2 percent respectively, while diesel rose 8.8 percent.
While the UAE increased the prices of premium and ordinary gasoline by 4.6 percent and 4.3 percent respectively, and diesel rose by 5.7 percent.
The three Gulf countries follow a mechanism to adjust the prices of local derivatives on a monthly basis to keep pace with international prices plus the price of transport and distribution services.
In contrast, the countries of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain change the prices of fuel, whenever it sees the need for it.
The price of a liter of excellent gasoline at the distribution stations UAE 2.04 dirhams (0.56 dollars), followed by Oman at 0.209 riyals (0.54 dollars), and Saudi Arabia 2.04 riyals (0.54 dollars).
While Bahrain was 0.2 dinars (0.53 dollars), followed by Qatar 1.60 rials (0.44 dollars), and finally Kuwait 0.105 dinars (0.35 dollars).
The average price of ordinary gasoline (95 most popular) was AED 1.92 ($ 0.52) in the UAE. Oman came second with 0.198 riyals ($ 0.51)
Qatar ranked third at 1.55 riyals ($ 0.43), Bahrain 0.140 dinars (0.37 dollars), Saudi Arabia (1.37 riyals per liter) and Kuwaitis 0.085 dinars (0.28 dollars).
While diesel prices in the UAE rose to 2.41 dirhams ($ 0.66), followed by Oman at 0.238 riyals (0.62 dollars), then Qatar 1.85 (0.51 dollars).
Kuwait ranked fourth at the highest price per liter of diesel at 0.115 dinars (0.38 dollars), Bahrain 0.120 dinars (0.32 dollars), and finally Saudi Arabia at 0.47 riyals (0.13 dollars).
The UAE, the first oil-rich Gulf state, was to decide to liberalize fuel prices in June 2015.
In a similar move, Qatar announced a restructuring of domestic fuel prices and its linkage to world prices starting in May 2016. Oman began to liberalize prices starting in January of the same year.
Kuwait was subsequently raised on 1 September 2016.
And Riyadh had announced an increase in gasoline prices at rates ranging between 83 percent and 127 percent after the decision of the Saudi authorities lifted as of 2018.
As of January 8, 2018, Bahrain has raised the price of gasoline (gasoline) in both normal and excellent quantities, based on the review of Gulf and global prices.
The rise in prices, coupled with the rise in crude oil prices by about $ 6, for Brent crude to $ 67 a barrel in February, compared to the average of $ 61 in January 2019. 1
