    BAGHDAD / obelisk: Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, on Tuesday, the House of Representatives to declare a state of emergency in the country, while calling the UN, the European Union and the Arab League to support Iraq in its war against "terrorism."

     Maliki said in a statement on the crisis in the province of Nineveh, and I followed "obelisk", "dedicated Cabinet meeting to discuss the crisis of Nineveh, where the Cabinet has decided to declare a state of alert and mobilization to counter terrorism."


    [rtl]He added, "We will request quickly to the House of Representatives to carry out its responsibilities and declare a state of emergency in the country and a general mobilization," noting that "the government has decided to support those who have declared their willingness to confront terrorism and to support the security services."[/rtl]



    [rtl]He pointed out that "the Council of Ministers pays tribute to the citizens and children of active clans to volunteer and willing to take up arms for the defense of the homeland and defeat terrorism and official bodies to support this willingness."[/rtl]



    [rtl]Maliki called "the United Nations and the European Union and the Arab League to support Iraq in its war against terrorism", adding that "the Council of Ministers face of all the ministries to carry out their duties in the care of displaced families to ease the suffering of the citizens who were [/rtl]

    Urgent .. presidency of the parliament calls on Maliki to attend Thursday's meeting to discuss his request to declare a state of emergency

    Presidency of the Council of Representatives called on the General Commander of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki to attend the emergency session of parliament next Thursday.

    According to a parliamentary source told all of Iraq [where] that "the presidency of the parliament called on al-Maliki to attend the emergency session Thursday to discuss his request for a declaration of a state of emergency in the country against the backdrop of the fall of Nineveh province and a number of areas, however, militants Daash."

    The Presidency of the Council of Representatives has today announced receipt of a request from the government and the presidency of the republic to declare a state of emergency in Iraq, against the backdrop of the events of Nineveh, declaring an emergency session to be held on next Thursday.

    My question is would that allow Maliki to stay in power with the country in a state of emergency and why not just put that province of Nineveh instead of the whole country?

    I think it should be the whole country, as soon as it is limited to a certain area, you know they will just move an area not affected yet.

     I believe it is national since Al Qaeda has taken over Nineveh 
    There is a royal mess over there IMO .
