(Baghdad: Al Furat News) Demonstrations were launched in the capital, Baghdad, Friday morning, at the invitation of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Mr. Muqtada al-Sadr, to demand the end of the presence of the American forces in the country.
Thousands of Iraqis gathered in the morning in the Al-Jadiriya area of Baghdad, raising banners denouncing the American presence on Iraqi soil, and Iraqi flags, and wearing shrouds.
Large crowds reached the Al-Jadiriya area, to the south of the capital, and crowds from Baghdad and the central and southern governorates also arrived to participate in this demonstration.
And Mr. Sadr called yesterday on the men and women of Iraq to "support the homeland", saying that "the hour of independence and sovereignty has come."
In a post on "Twitter", Mr. Sadr went to the Iraqis saying: "Come to the victory of the country, for it is crying out for you." He added: "Promise an independent Iraq that is ruled by the righteous and has no corruption in it."
The House of Representatives approved, on the fourth of this month, a decision to remove the American forces from the country, against the background of the assassination of the commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Qassem Soleimani, and the deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Organization, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, in the vicinity of Baghdad International Airport with an American raid early this month. is over
