Basra Council: 80% of the governorate’s budget will be returned to the state treasury

Today, Friday, the dissolved Basra Provincial Council confirmed that 80% of the province’s budget, totaling four and a half trillion, will be returned to the state treasury for failure to spend it.
Member of the Council Ali Shaddad Al-Faris said in a statement to Information Agency that "the 2019 budget allocated to Basra Governorate amounts to nearly 4 trillion and 500 billion dinars to complete old projects and implement new ones."
He added, “The Council voted in June 2019 to complete 560 projects with the governorate’s budget for the year 2019,” noting that “these projects provide 50 thousand job opportunities for the unemployed of the people of Basra.” End / 25p
