The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, stressed the necessity to adhere to the constitutional period specified for the formation of the government.
A presidential statement said, "Saleh met yesterday evening the leaders of the Shiite blocs Ammar al-Hakim, Nuri al-Maliki, Hadi al-Amiri and Haider al-Abadi separately."
Saleh stressed the importance of speeding up an agreement between the political blocs in order to nominate a prime minister who enjoys national and popular approval, noting the importance of adhering to the specific constitutional period in order to form a government capable of addressing its tasks in light of the challenges facing Iraq.
The President of the Republic affirmed that everyone is required for a responsible national stance to spare the country from its complicated and difficult circumstances, and to create the appropriate atmosphere for early elections and to meet the demands of Iraqis of all spectrums.
The statement clarified that it was agreed, during the meeting, to continue the dialogue and consultations between the political forces to choose and nominate an acceptable figure that addresses the current situation and the benefits of the next stage and accomplish the requirements for reform in the country.
