Local media circulated an official document issued by the Ministry of the Interior containing a decision to dissolve the aforementioned forces and transfer all their possessions and personnel to the Police Directorate in the capital, Baghdad.
The document clarified that its decision was the result of an order issued by the Prime Minister.
Social media welcomed the decision of the Iraqi authorities to dissolve the "law-keeping" forces, while others considered it a late step.

Iraqi government sources confirmed to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that the decision is part of previous government pledges to the United Nations mission in Baghdad, as well as activists to investigate crimes of repression and violations, adding that the authorities pay great attention to the violations committed against the demonstrators, and investigations into these violations are continuing. .
She indicated that the government is concerned with following up the file of the dead and wounded in the demonstrations, pointing out that there is an intention to erase all the ill effects caused by the violent interaction with the protesters in the previous stage.
Earlier Thursday, the spokesman for the Media Office of the General Secretariat of the Iraqi Council of Ministers, Haider Majeed, said that the government is sending the first batch of wounded demonstrators for treatment outside Iraq.
Last Sunday, the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, announced the end of the first phase of the investigation into the violations committed against the demonstrators, indicating that his government had begun the process of "counting the wounded and victims of the demonstrations to obtain their entitlements."
