Mubasher: Iraqi MP Alia Nassif revealed the existence of a parliamentary approach regarding the ration card.
Nassif said to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), today, Friday: "The law of compensation for citizens covered by the ration card with sums of money was put forward several years ago, which provides for the transfer of the ration card items to a sum of money to be presented to the needy for this card."
The deputy pointed out that "signatures were collected in the House of Representatives to make these compensation for those who deserve it and not for everyone."
She emphasized that "there are statistics that came out from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs that there are ten million people who deserve these compensation, so signatures were collected in the House of Representatives to add this decision to the budget."
The parliamentarian indicated that she does not believe that time has run out and that the matter needs a government decision from the Council of Ministers to issue this important and successful decision.
In turn, MP Hassan Fadam said, "Handing over money instead of the ration card to citizens will reduce and prevent corruption in the Ministry of Trade regarding this file," indicating that "the idea is not to give the money, but an electronic card in which the specific foodstuffs are listed, and the family's family receives these items from any place." Or markets, and money is deducted from the state by transferring the citizens' balances with the card directly from the Ministry of Finance.
