A member of the committee, Alia Nassif, told the official agency, and he was followed by "People" (May 13, 2021), that "there is a problem of lack of coordination between the parties that have to do with recovering money from abroad, in addition to the shortcomings of the law and the challenges that the recovery file faces before and after 2003." Pointing out that "there was no external cooperation between the countries of the region regarding this and no bilateral agreements between countries to recover funds."
She added that "the Integrity Commission Law allows public money thieves to make a settlement so that the money will return to Iraq, and these are the challenges that the file of recovering funds faces," noting that "Iraqi funds during the pandemic crisis were greatly damaged, as they lost it completely in Amman and elsewhere."
And she continued, "The Integrity Committee is working on an amendment to the Integrity Commission Law, including expanding the chapter on recovering Iraqi funds before and after 2003," explaining that "the committee has added articles that give space to the judiciary, the recovery commission, the integrity commission, the recovery department, to conclude bilateral agreements and approach the United Nations on recovery." Money as a big file. "
Nassif confirmed that “the committee’s meetings on amending the law are continuing, as the first meeting was in the Presidency of the Republic,” noting that “the committee gave its ideas to the State Recovery and Shura Commission to coordinate them in the form of legal formulas so that the legislation of the law would be within the House of Representatives, and it could see the light after Eid. Mushrooms. "
