    The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, affirmed today, Saturday, that Iraq's balanced relations, stability and sovereignty are a basis for consolidating regional and international security.
    A presidential statement received by the National News Center stated that “Saleh received at the Peace Palace in Baghdad the Pakistani Minister of Foreign Affairs Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi,” pointing out that “the meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and the importance of strengthening them, and bilateral cooperation in the field of combating Terrorism, and benefit from the experiences of both military institutions in the two countries, and to develop the capabilities of the Iraqi armed forces.
    According to the statement, Saleh said, "The world, and the region in particular, are facing common challenges of terrorism, extremism and the escalation of tensions that affect global security and stability, and this requires international cooperation in facing security and health challenges, protecting the environment, preserving security and international stability."
    He affirmed, "The policy of openness that Iraq adopts towards everyone proceeds towards easing tensions and crises, and emphasizing the pivotal role of Iraq and restoring its role in the region," noting that "a secure, stable and sovereign Iraq and its close relations with its Arab depth, its Islamic neighborhood and its relations with the international community is the centerpiece." To consolidate security, stability and development in the region.
    For his part, the Pakistani Minister, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, affirmed his country's commitment to supporting Iraq's security and sovereignty, expressing his country's aspiration to consolidate bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields, and to develop and train Iraqi security forces.
