The institution said in a statement that "the total remittances for Iraqis residing outside Iraq for the period from (2012-2019) amounted to more than 6 billion dollars, at an annual rate of 750 million dollars, representing 0.5% of the Iraqi GDP."
She added, "The number of Iraqis residing outside Iraq is estimated at between 3-4 million people, and the annual transfer rate per person to Iraq is about 250 dollars annually, and the highest value of remittances in 2017 amounted to one billion dollars."
And she added, "The annual transfer rate for countries is about $3.8 billion annually, representing 4% of the countries' GDP."
She pointed out that "many countries depend on workers in other countries to increase the domestic product and a kind of attracting foreign currency into their countries, but Iraq's lack of a banking system has led to a decrease in the percentage of money transferred from different countries to Iraq, in addition to the use of unofficial methods of transferring money." in which the information may not be as accurate as required.
