    He added, "The Iraqi government aspires to reach self-sufficiency in gas and stop importing gas after five years, and in the last (fifth) licensing round there were many contracts to invest gas in many fields, in addition to the large contract signed with Total Energy, which Its value amounts to $20 billion, a large part of which depends on separating gas from oil in the producing fields in the south.
    The expert in oil affairs confirmed that “Iraq does not only possess the associated gas in the oil fields, but there are rights that produce natural gas in pure form, and these fields are in each of Basra, Diyala and Anbar, and in the event of good investment in these fields, these fields can be a major source.” of natural gas, which can be used to operate electrical power plants.”
