Crude oil prices fell today, Thursday, after the US Federal Reserve tilted towards tightening fiscal policy, which made the dollar stronger, but the increase in losses was limited by the significant decline in crude oil inventories in the United States.

Brent crude futures fell by about 18 cents, or 0.24 percent, to $ 74.20 a barrel by 05:32 GMT, after hitting their highest levels since April 2019 in the previous session.

US crude oil futures fell 13 cents, or 0.18 percent, to $72.01 a barrel, after hitting their highest levels since October 2018 the previous day.

After the regular policy meeting, the Chairman of the Board Federal Reserve Jerome PowellOfficials will start talks about reducing massive asset purchases, while starting to raise interest rates twice by the end of 2023, which will raise the price of the dollar and make it stronger and that this rise reduces the attractiveness of commodities priced in the currency.

However, oil prices were limited as data fromEnergy Information Management The United States said crude oil inventories in the world's largest consumer fell sharply last week as refineries boosted operations to their highest levels since January 2020, indicating continued improvement in demand.

Also boosted by prices, the productivity of refineries in China, the second largest consumer of oil in the world, increased by 4.4% in May of the same month a year ago to a record level.
Despite the relatively low prices, they are still at their highest levels in more than two years.
