On Tuesday, the Finance and Economic Affairs Committee of the Kurdistan Parliament demanded that the Kurdistan Regional Government submit a financial statement for the first six months of 2021, adding that instead of sending its budget for the current year, it must prepare a budget for the next year.
A statement by the committee, which “Mawazine News” received a copy of, stated that it held a regular meeting today that touched on in one of its paragraphs the region’s budget for the year 2021, noting that after the discussion, the committee sent a letter to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of the region asking it to prepare the budget for the next year 2022 instead of sending The budget for the current year 2021, in order to be able to send it on its legal date in the month of next October to Parliament.
The statement explained that the committee also demanded that the government, instead of sending the region’s budget bill for the year 2021, should send to Parliament two financial statements to Parliament for the first and second halves of the current year 2021, and that at the end of the fiscal year it should send the final accounts and the financial control report to Parliament.
