Today, Saturday, the Parliamentary Economic Committee presented a set of solutions that contribute to the re-working of the suspended factories, while indicating the existence of a scheme aimed at stopping the Iraqi industry.
Committee member MP Mazen Al-Faili said in a statement to the official agency, followed by the "National News Center", that "the process of restoring life to the stalled Iraqi factories does not require much efforts and money, as it is self-contained."
He added, "Factories need to update their production lines and introduce technicians to training courses on new machines, with government measures to support the national product by preventing the import of locally produced goods, and obligating state ministries to purchase the local product."
Al-Faili revealed that “there is a plan to stop the Iraqi industry after 2003 so that Iraq becomes a consumer and non-productive market,” noting that “activating the movement of factories requires simple steps and government attention.”
Al-Faili stressed “the need to support national production by issuing decisions from the government obligating the relevant ministries to purchase the product from factories to advance the industry and make it a supplement to the budget.”
And he indicated that "operating factories does not need to legislate laws, but rather falls on the shoulders of the Ministry of Industry as it is part of its work."
Earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Minerals revealed plans with the private sector to rehabilitate factories and establish new projects, while noting that the private sector's invitation to partnership comes within the government's directions to open up to all countries of the world.
