The Parliamentary Services and Reconstruction Committee revealed, on Thursday, an Iraqi move to connect the ports of Basra with Turkey, indicating the start of preliminary investigations on the road linking the port of Al-Faw and Umm Qasr, accompanied by the initial surveys of drilling in the waters of the large port of Faw.
A member of the committee, Mudhar Khazal, said in an interview with the official newspaper, that "the parliamentary services hosted the Director General of Railways to review the new railway project linking Basra and Turkey," indicating that "investigations about the road linking the port of Faw and the port of Umm Qasr coincide with the initial drilling surveys. Within the waters of Al-Faw Port, preparing for the opening of many projects and pending the opening of work in general at Al-Faw Port.
Khazaal confirmed that "the Faw Port project consists of five projects, and each project has a specificity and a special mechanism to work with," indicating that "there is a move to link a road between Faw Port and Umm Qasr."
