{Economic: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Electricity revealed "major" negotiations with the Iranian side regarding fuel releases to Iraq.
The ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Al-Abadi, told {Euphrates News}, "Great negotiations and discussions with the Iranian side regarding fuel, and a number of proposals and matters that would be pending and must be overcome."
He added, "The issue of compliance with the paragraphs of the protocol signed contract and the commitment between Iraq and Iran to this contract was raised."
Al-Abadi stressed, "The issue must be resolved. Otherwise, the ministry has a number of alternative plans and diversification of energy sources."
On December 9, the Ministry of Electricity announced the decline in gas supplied from Iran, while noting that this had caused a loss of approximately 3,400 megawatts of electricity.
And she indicated, "Despite the existence of prior agreements with Iran to supply us with 70 million cubic meters of fuel in the summer, and 50 million cubic meters of it in the winter, which fills the actual need, the decline, which reached 8.5 million cubic meters, has begun to negatively affect the work of Our stations, causing a decline in production and a loss of approximately 3,400 megawatts.”
