Yesterday, Wednesday, the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, called on merchants to take into account the people, not their money, and not to deal with greed. They are responsible before God, the people, and before us as a whole.
Al-Sadr said, in a tweet on his account on “Twitter”: “After the rise in the exchange rates of the dollar and its benefits and harms, it should not at all be an increase in market prices, especially with regard to the important commodities that the people need in their daily life on the launch.”
He added, "Indeed, through economic security, all merchants and the like who seek to do so should be punished and in accordance with the law, especially as we are approaching the blessed month (Ramadan), but absolutely, and the government must deal with all violators firmly, regardless of who the perpetrator is."
Al-Sadr pointed out that “the most important thing is for the people to live with dignity, pride and well-being, and the poor class must be taken into consideration, who hardly get their daily sustenance through the ration card and by not increasing the price of important basic commodities, especially vegetables, grains, construction prices, and the like.”
He continued, "There was a claimed benefit from the rise in the exchange rates of the dollar, so it should not be at the expense of the people, the poor, the destitute and the needy, otherwise it will be unjust."
Meanwhile, the Sadrist parliamentary bloc pledged to support the national industry, monitor commodity prices, and fight corruption.
The deputy head of the Sadrist bloc, Hassan Al-Kaabi, said in a press conference: “Based on the national responsibility regarding what was stated in Muqtada Al-Sadr’s message to Parliament, including that the role of the House of Representatives is not limited to forming the government or electing the three presidencies, and the need to activate the supervisory and legislative role. He is entrusted with the realization of the aspirations of our oppressed people to achieve reconciliation and secure their necessary needs. In the Sadrist Parliamentary Bloc, we pledge to al-Sadr that the contents of his message will be a platform and a beacon for the members of the bloc to illuminate through active work with the rest of the members of the Council to advance the oversight tasks that the constitution entrusted to carry out. to them, and to evaluate and evaluate the work of the executive authority in all its joints and local administrations, and to hold the negligent accountable.”
He stressed, "the serious endeavor to enact legislation aimed at securing and meeting the requirements and aspirations of the citizen, and in a manner that serves the interest of Iraq away from pressures, interference and narrow interests."
