Shafaq News/ The Iranian province of Ilam and the Iraqi governor of Diyala signed a preliminary memorandum of understanding to establish a common market in the northern Hilalah port, according to what was published today, Friday, by the semi-official Iranian "Fars" agency.
The agency quoted the governor of Ilam Hassan Bahram as saying after a meeting with the governor of Diyala that took place yesterday, Thursday, after signing this memorandum, we will try to obtain the necessary permits from the center.
He added that the people of Ilam have common ethnic and cultural denominators with Diyala Governorate (east of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad), and this is the best opportunity for commercial relations and the establishment of the northern Hilala market.
The governor of Ilam expressed his hope to achieve a boom in trade and develop exchanges by creating a common market on the borders in the two provinces.
He stated that Ilam province (western Iran) possesses many capabilities in various fields that this market can also lead to the prosperity of trade and put Ilam on the path of development.
For his part, Diyala Governor Muthanna Ali Mahdi said: We will seriously seek to obtain the approval of the federal government to establish a common market on the borders of the crescent between Ilam and Diyala.
He noted that there are very good relations with the Iraqi ambassador, Iraj Masjedi, and we hope that he will be able to help the two governorates in finding this great common market.
