    The Iraqi Ministry of Trade said that global crises have a negative impact on the Iraqi economy, noting that the existing ration card secures several months. 
    A spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, Muhammad Hanoun, stated to the official agency, and “Ultra Iraq” followed him, that “there is a contract with a company investing in the food basket that continues for several years,” noting that “the ministry relies for three years on local wheat, and this indicates the importance of supporting farmers because the local product It will not be exposed to global conditions or crises."
    He stressed that "the ministry has storage and is looking forward to the crisis ending soon, and therefore what is available from a ration card secures several months," calling for "attention to the national product as well as to Iraqi agriculture."
    He explained that "the ministry expects that what is happening in the world of crises has a negative impact on the Iraqi economy," noting that "the ministry has prepared the flour and is ready to prepare a new meal in the coming days."

    On Friday, the Ministry of Commerce confirmed the existence of a contract with a private sector company to provide the vocabulary of the "food basket" for the next five years.

    The ministry stated in a statement received by "Nass", a copy of it (February 25, 2022), that "a ship loaded with 44,000 tons of rice arrived at the southern ports for the food basket."  
    She added, "A marketing plan has been prepared to deliver it to all governorates after completing the laboratory examinations (biological and physical)."  
    And the ministry's statement continued, "The rice is among the contracts that the private sector conducts through the investing company to provide the food basket."  
    The statement confirmed, "there is an agreement that will last for several years, according to which and based on Resolution 160 issued by the Council of Ministers, as the private sector provides the food basket items."  
    She noted that "the decision contributed to securing the ration card items and achieving food security for Iraqis, regardless of the crises that occur in the year."
