The Governor of the Central Bank, Mustafa Ghaleb, inaugurated, Saturday, the Al-Rashad Home for the Elderly, after the construction of a new building by the “Tamkeen” Community Initiatives Fund, which is supervised by the Central Bank and the Association of Private Banks.
The Engineering Department of the Tamkeen Fund rehabilitated Dar Al-Rashad and added a new building that accommodates 100 people, in order to raise the capacity of the house to accommodate more than 200 people.
This comes after requests were received about a year ago to provide assistance to the elderly home in Al-Rashad, which was suffering from a continuous deterioration in the level of care, in addition to the deterioration of the building, which has been built for nearly 100 years.
"Enable"
In his speech on the sidelines of the opening of the house, the Governor of the Central Bank said, "The Tamkeen Fund has a deep vision to support the community, and part of this vision is dedicated to the elderly, to improve their quality of life and give them the ideal environment to practice their activities and social life."
He added, "We in the (Tamkeen) Fund cannot forget this blessed gray, which was presented to Iraq, thanks and appreciative efforts, over the past period, in building institutions such as education, health, and others."
He addressed the beneficiaries of the rehabilitation of Dar Al-Rashad, that "the banking system stands behind the financing process by donating this project and other projects carried out by the Community Initiatives Fund, and we will continue to support the community and productive initiatives."
He explained that "the project was completed after receiving continuous requests to rehabilitate the building, so that the Central Bank would then coordinate with the banking sector in the Association of Private Banks, and donations and support were collected through the community empowerment initiative to establish a new elderly home worthy of our sons and mothers from the elderly segment."
In turn, the Governor of Baghdad, Muhammad Jaber Al-Atta, confirmed on the sidelines of the opening that "the Al-Rashad House for the Elderly will be one of the important buildings that provide new services for elderly men and women, and this is the responsibility of all government agencies, whether the governorate or others," noting that "the Iraqi Private Banks Association donated this The building that provides basic services for the elderly, in addition to the construction of a library, studio, computer hall, gardens and rest areas.
purely humane
The Commissioner Director of the Association of Private Banks, Ali Tariq, says that "the project was accomplished through donations, support and financing of the banking sector in the Community Initiatives Fund "Tamkeen" under the supervision of the Association of Private Banks and the Central Bank of Iraq to support the weak and marginalized groups that need programs, initiatives and care that make them live in comfort and tranquility." He added, "The Tamkeen Fund directs this money in various humanitarian, cultural and societal directions, and the banking sector will continue to support these projects, and there will be different projects in Baghdad and the provinces."
In turn, the director of the Baghdad Elderly Home Hospital Al-Rashad Ali Al-Gharawi said, "The establishment of the home was supported by the Tamkeen Fund for Community Initiatives within the Association of Private Banks, and it is a purely humanitarian service to support the elderly and relieve pressure on the home, which was established since 1927," noting that "The head of the Association of Private Banks, Wadih Al-Handal, decided with the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mustafa Aghalib, to provide a service to this generous segment by constructing a building worthy of them."
He stressed that "the opening of the house will contribute to alleviating the pressure on the house and making it able to accommodate new numbers of the elderly, especially with the presence of about 50 requests to reside in the house in addition to those in the streets of Baghdad," stressing that "the building includes special and good specifications and will help provide a decent living. Ragheed belongs to an important segment of Iraqi society, which is the elderly.
Premium Services
Regarding the standard specifications of the building, its parts, the services provided in it, and their suitability for the elderly, the head of the engineering department of the Association of Iraqi Private Banks, Ahmed Basil, says that “the old building in Dar Al-Attaa was suffering from deterioration and its inability to accommodate a number of new guests due to the passage of a long period of time since its construction, and from Then it became ineligible to provide services to the elderly.
He adds that "a committee from the Association of Private Banks, in cooperation with the Central Bank, conducted the necessary studies and statements, and a special engineering body was assigned to carry out designs in accordance with the design standards specific to the elderly category in terms of sleeping places and the way they sit."
He explained that "the design was keen to make the building more like a five-star hotel in terms of comfort, services and specifications, and although this was reflected in the material costs and the space of the house, the Community Initiatives Fund insisted that the house be a model for buildings in Iraq, and an example to follow in projects for the senior category." Age".
The building extends over an area of 1,285 square meters with a capacity to accommodate 102 inmates divided into 34 areas that can accommodate three guests and is equipped with a private bathroom, east and west, according to the guests’ requirements, with cupboards, TV, refrigerator, lockers and tables. The project includes adding a large garden of no less than 450 square meters with the development of the area surrounding the house with an area of 2000 meters with a completion period of 180 days.
