The Iraqi president warns of "chaos" and outlaws
In a statement posted on Twitter, Barham Salih said, "The attack on the city of Erbil is a condemned and reprehensible act that targets national efforts to protect the country's security and the safety of citizens."
Saleh stressed the need to "stand firmly against attempts to plunge the country into chaos and undermine security and stability," stressing that "it is necessary to unify the national ranks and consolidate the reference of the state and its security services against outlaws."
The Kurdistan Counter-Terrorism Service reported (Wednesday evening) that a booby-trapped drone attacked (Wednesday evening) the Erbil-Birmam road, north of Erbil governorate, wounding three civilians, one of whom was in serious condition, and damaging several civilian cars and a food store.
The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) described the incident as a "reckless act" and stressed that Iraq does not need armed rulers who set themselves up as leaders.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi said, during a call with the Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, that the attack on the city of Erbil translates the insistence of some to perpetuate the logic of chaos and strike the concepts of the state.
