Al-Sadr calls for not raising political slogans during the Arbaeen visit, and preventing the crowd and the brigades from securing it
Shafaq News/ On Saturday, the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, called on the local government in Karbala governorate to limit the task of securing the fortieth visit of Imam Hussein to the security forces and to prevent the Popular Mobilization and "Peace Brigades", the military wing of the movement from doing so, urging at the same time visitors not to do so. Raising political slogans during the performance of the visit ceremony.
Al-Sadr said in a lengthy tweet, which he posted on the social networking sites “Twitter”, “I address my words to the official authorities, especially the local official authorities in Karbala. ".
He added, "All Iraqis must exercise restraint and avoid friction. Rather, they must cooperate with the security forces and not raise partisan, militia, or even crowd or current slogans, in order to preserve the safety of visitors, guests and holy places."
Al-Sadr continued by saying, "This does not mean that we meet with the corrupt under the tent of Imam Hussein, no and a thousand no. Rather, we do not want harm to the guests and visitors in general, as we do not pledge allegiance to the likes of them, and that life with them is twirling, and death without them is happiness."
Tensions escalated sharply on Monday, August 29, when Sadr loyalists stormed the government palace inside the fortified Green Zone after their leader announced his "retirement" from politics.
But Sadr's supporters left the Green Zone on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 30, 2022, after he personally asked them to withdraw within an hour, reflecting his great influence on his followers and which earned him his reputation as a ruler.
At least 30 of al-Sadr's supporters were shot dead and about 600 were wounded during nearly twenty-four hours of clashing with other Shiite factions, while the crowd gathered four of his supporters who said they had fallen on duty.
On the evening of Wednesday, August 31, armed clashes erupted in the Basra Governorate in southern Iraq between members of the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq movement led by Qais al-Khazali.
And Saraya al-Salam affiliated with the leader of the Sadrist movement, and ended with the killing of four people on both sides, before the security forces were able to impose their control.
