Today, Wednesday, the Parliamentary Legal Committee clarified the methods for selecting the heads of independent bodies and other security agencies in the government of Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani.
Committee member Aref al-Hamami said, "Some important and effective state positions and agencies need balance in the process of selecting department directors and heads, especially those related to electoral merit and constituents."
He added, "The powers to choose other positions belong to the Prime Minister, and he is the one who has the right to name whoever he wants, away from the rest of the benefits."
And a member of the Legal Committee stated that "there are many legislations in the House of Representatives, and special laws through which positions can be decided and some officials can be named."
Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani presented his government cabinet to the House of Representatives, which voted on it on 10/27/2022, depending on the shares of political forces. However, the files of independent bodies and other security agencies have not yet been resolved, which has raised many questions about the way to choose their directors.
