    On Sunday, Minister of Commerce Atheer Al-Ghurairy met with Indian Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs Awsaf Saeed and Indian Ambassador to Baghdad Prashant Besai to discuss developing and raising the level of economic and trade relations and the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.

    Minister Al-Ghurairy confirmed in a statement, which "NAS" received a copy of, (February 20, 2023) that "the government of Iraq seeks to activate its economic and trade relations with all countries of the world and to benefit from economic expertise in this field during that and to enter the Iraqi private sector in real partnerships."  
      
    Stressing "the importance of working to hold the work of the Iraqi-Indian joint committee in its 18th session, to be held in the second quarter of this year in the capital, Delhi."  
      
    Al-Ghurairy called on "Indian companies to enter into investment and economic projects inside Iraq and take advantage of promising opportunities to conclude agreements and sign memorandums of understanding with the Iraqi sectors and at all levels."  
      
    He also stressed the importance of the participation of Indian companies in the upcoming Baghdad exhibition and specialized exhibitions inside Iraq, and to work on exchanging visits of trade and economic delegations to consolidate bilateral relations and revitalize the role of the private sector.  
      
    For his part, the Indian Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed his country's desire to develop economic and trade relations with Iraq in light of developments in the Iraqi economy, affirming work to encourage Indian companies to enter the Iraqi market and revitalize the level of cooperation between the two countries.  
      
    At the same time, he pointed to "the desire to transfer the experience of India's presence in some countries and in all fields to Iraq."  
      
    The two sides discussed "during the meeting" the importance of activating economic and trade relations between the two countries and the possibility of benefiting from Indian expertise in the fields of industry, energy, medicine, agriculture, technology and other fields, and working to increase the volume of trade exchange and finding new mechanisms for dealing between the Iraqi and Indian private sectors through the establishment of real partnerships between them in addition to To discuss the issue of entry visas for Indian merchants and India's participation in the Baghdad International Fair.
