The Parliamentary Migration and Displacement Committee called on the government to implement the "Sinjar Agreement" for the return of the displaced to their areas, as it represents a road map in this field, while the committee registered its objection to the performance of the Ministry of Immigration with regard to plans for the return of the displaced to their areas.
The head of the committee, Sharif Suleiman, said, in an interview with "Al-Sabah": "The government program regarding the displaced has not been implemented yet, so I call on the government to implement the (Sinjar Agreement), which is a road map for the return of the displaced to their areas."
He stressed that "after the implementation of the (Sinjar Agreement), it will be the beginning of practical steps in the return of the displaced, providing security and stability, building their areas, compensating them, and developing an integrated strategy to persuade them to return," calling on the government to "devise a real study in this field in addition to setting a complete budget in order to achieve the return of the displaced to their homes." their areas deliberately.
And he indicated that "the remaining Yazidi displaced from Sinjar counted about 300,000 displaced inside the camps, in addition to huge numbers of others outside the camps in Dohuk and other numbers in the governorates of the Kurdistan region such as Erbil and Sulaymaniyah," and stressed that "until now, a real solution to the file of the displaced has not begun." There are hundreds of thousands of them who did not return to their areas due to the lack of infrastructure in their areas, the lack of safety and stability in them, and the failure to start a real and realistic program for their return to their areas, despite the existence of paragraphs for their return in the government program. Suleiman added, "Despite the political agreements regarding the return of the displaced, there has been no emphasis on working with the (Sinjar Agreement), which paves the way for resolving the crisis of the displaced forever."
