A member of the Parliamentary Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee, Bassem Al-Gharibawi, warned, on Sunday, of the repercussions of imposing taxes and fees of 5% on gasoline and kerosene prices within the 2023 budget.
Al-Gharibawi said, in an interview with Al-Maalouma Agency, that "there are indications that a 5% fee will be included in the 2023 budget on the quantities of gasoline and kerosene sold to citizens," adding that "there are many solutions that the government can benefit from apart from imposing fees, given that people with income They will be the biggest losers if they take such a step.”
He pointed out that "the committee will have a serious stand in discussing and rejecting any increase in oil derivatives sold to citizens," noting that "most deputies will not vote on this paragraph and any other paragraphs that impose additional burdens on citizens."
The Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee had previously described the decision to raise the price of oil derivatives in the 2023 budget as an unfair decision against a wide segment of society. End / 25 h
