Today, Wednesday, the Independent High Electoral Commission clarified the mechanism of work of the monitoring teams, their powers, and the conditions for registering their members according to their accreditation system.
Jumana Al-Ghalay, a spokeswoman for the Commission, said: "The Electoral Commission has approved the system of accreditation of local and international observers, as they are among the important partners in the electoral process who enjoy respect and confidence by the Electoral Commission and the people because of their essential role in adding transparency to the electoral process and ensuring the integrity and impartiality of the process and its fairness." Electoral work, according to Articles Eight and Ten of the Electoral Commission Law No. 31 of 2019, election observers, agents of political entities, media professionals, and international observers have been accredited.
Al-Ghalay added, “One of the conditions for registering and accrediting local observers is that they have a valid registration certificate issued by the competent official authorities or formed in accordance with the applicable law, with no legal impediment, and that the request be submitted exclusively by the monitoring team, and the applications submitted by the monitoring team are not approved.” individuals and that the code of conduct be signed by the observers and evaluation of it”.
