Kar Refinery plans to increase its capacity to 185 thousand barrels

The Kar Oil refinery revealed its plan during the last two years to increase its capacity to 185 thousand barrels per day. The director of the refinery, Shamal Muhammad, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: “The (KAR) refinery consists of 3 refineries and a capacity of 175 thousand barrels per day, with 70 percent of the production being for the central government and 30 percent of it for the Kurdistan region.” He added, “The refinery diversifies in producing petroleum derivatives, most notably the production of (black and white oil, diesel, jet fuel, gasoline, and liquid gas for homes),” noting that “the refinery’s plan during the next two years is to increase its capacity to 185 thousand barrels per day, in addition to Increasing gasoline production capacity to 40 percent of current capacity. Muhammad pointed out that “the refinery has been working since 2017 to provide fuel to the provinces of Nineveh and Salah al-Din, especially after the liberation of the provinces from the occupation of ISIS terrorist gangs, when the Baiji refinery was out of service.”
