Today, Monday, the Communications and Media Commission called on media and press institutions to intensify efforts to highlight the importance of the Iraqi National Day.
The Commission stated in a statement received by Mawazine News, “On the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Iraq, which falls on the third of October of each year, the Media and Communications Commission calls on all media institutions to intensify media and journalistic efforts and address different programming patterns that demonstrate the importance of this anniversary and this event.” It is the day on which the General Assembly of the League of Nations agreed to accept Iraq as a member, making it an Iraqi national holiday.”
She added: “We hope that his memory will be exploited by the media for the benefit of the nation and the people by adopting concepts that consolidate the values of citizenship among the public, establish acceptance of peaceful coexistence under the umbrella of the state, and spread a culture of tolerance and rejection of violence and extremism.”
According to the statement, the Commission called on media institutions to “broadcast national anthems that strengthen the unity and cohesion of the Iraqi people.”
