The Ministry of Transport intends to activate mass transportation programs and open new lines to transport students in all governorates, after its success in providing similar lines within Baghdad and six governorates with the start of the new academic year.
The spokesman for the ministry’s media office, Maitham al-Safi, said in a statement to “Al-Sabah”: After the success of the first step in launching lines for students in Baghdad and the governorates of Najaf, Basra, Nineveh, Anbar, Salah al-Din, and Diyala, the ministry intends to generalize the experience to the rest of the governorates, in line with the government program aimed at providing the best services. For citizens, especially after deploying buses to transport passengers in coordination with all universities. He confirmed that his ministry will deploy its modern buses to support mass transportation programs, and others will also be rented to fill the shortage in some governorates, indicating that the ministry is seeking to activate and restore mass transportation lines within Baghdad and the rest of the governorates to activate the work of buses. Al Hamra, as a contribution to reviving public transportation, coinciding with the launch of an expanded campaign to maintain and rehabilitate its buses.
Al-Safi stated that the aforementioned project will serve a large segment of students and people with limited income in Baghdad and the governorates of the country that will be included in the mass transportation plan, and buses with advanced, modern, safe and air-conditioned transportation services will be provided to citizens and students.
