Today, Saturday, the Ministry of Transport revealed a government initiative to provide mass transportation for students and employees in Baghdad and the provinces.
Director of Media and Public Relations at the Ministry, Maytham Al-Safi, said in an interview followed by Al-Iqtisad News, “The Ministry has opened 14 public transportation lines in the capital, Baghdad, and other lines, up to 72, will be opened, and there are plans to open public transportation lines in the governorates,” pointing out that “The transportation plan in Baghdad is continuing to complete all lines.”
He added, "The Ministry has public transportation initiatives in the governorates, as we were able to contract with some colleges and universities in Nineveh, Salah al-Din, and Anbar governorates to transport students. There is an initiative proposed to government institutions to transport employees from their departments to their place of residence to reduce traffic congestion, and there are continuous visits to the rest of the governorates." By the Minister of Transport to activate public transportation.
He pointed out that, "After completing the projects to relieve traffic congestion in Baghdad, there will be a comprehensive plan to activate mass transportation in the capital and the provinces," explaining that "the start dates for bus traffic will be at specific times, as is the practice in countries around the world."
